Cone beam is rapidly becoming the standard of care, as oral surgeons add 3D imaging systems to their practices in increasing numbers. Consider the large range of Vatech CBCT's for your perfect choice with the best image quality.
DAY 1 | 08H30 - 16H30
Module I: The Nuts, Bolts & Applications of Cone Beam CT
3 hours
> Why all the “buzz” about Cone Beam Imaging?
> How does CBCT Work?
> Why would I need it for my practice?
We use imaging every day in our office to help our clinical treatment decisions. The latest CBCT machines are amazing and cost effective. Dr. Miles presents the principles and applications of dentistry’s newest imaging technology – Cone Beam CT. Come learn how to treat your patients more efficiently, expertly and confidently by employing this technology. See how cost effective this technology can be.
Objectives: This module will enable the dentist to:
Module II: Anatomy “Re-Boot” Camp for CBCT
3 hours
Once we adopt Cone Beam imaging, we need to re-educate ourselves to multi-planar anatomy.
When did we ever view dental structures in the axial plane? This 3-hour anatomy review session will build your confidence for reviewing your cone beam data sets.
Dr. Miles reviews large (craniofacial) and small (dentoalveolar) volume anatomic structures in detail like you’ve never seen it before.
Objectives: this program will enable the dentist to:
• Identify basic anatomy in the multi-planar dentoalveolar images
• Visualize anatomical detail in 2D and 3D grayscale and color reconstruction
• Identify large volume anatomy (craniofacial) the dentist must know to use the technology
DAY 2 | 08H30 - 16H30
Module III: “A Case of Mistaken Identity!”
Risk & Liability Associated with CBCT
2 hours
> Why does the CBCT anatomy look so different?
> What if I miss "pathology" in my Cone Beam Scan?
> What is my risk?
> How can I minimize that risk?
Dentists are requesting more and more cone beam scans for impacted teeth, implant and sinus assessment and TMJ imaging to help their clinical treatment decisions. Dr. Miles has read thousands of cases sent to him by dentists to look for “occult pathology”. He will present the case for reducing your risk from missing pathology on scans and present information on liability and risk reduction. He will present cases he has examined which had serious and, in some cases, potentially life altering consequences.
Objectives: this module will enable the dentist will be able to:
• Understand the potential liabilities for this modality
• Understand the importance of reviewing all slice data
• Review and visualize cases with significant systemic findings
• Develop a "risk management" strategy for using cone beam imaging
Module IV: Hands-On Reporting & Documentation of CBCT Findings
3 hours
This component is designed to demonstrate a simple, educational decision support and reporting software. Participants will use these tools in a “hands-on” clinical manner to practice detecting common findings in scan cases provided and producing a comprehensive CBCT report.
Objectives: This program will enable the dentist to:
• Reinforce locating conditions/findings in CBCT scans taught in the lecture portion
• Practice using the decision support/report software
• Create a completely documented CBCT report for their electronic record or referral
