PHOTOBIOMODULATION
LOW LEVEL LASER THERAPY
Photobiomodulation (PBM), is defined as a form of light therapy that utilises non-ionizing light sources, including lasers, light emitting diodes, and/or broadband light, in the visible (400 – 700 nm) and near-infrared (700 – 1100 nm) electromagnetic spectrum.
Photobiomodulation is non-invasive, non-thermal therapy which stimulates cells to generate more energy and undergo self-repair through the use of near infrared light (NIR). Also known as low-level light (or laser) therapy (LLLT), these photons of natural, therapeutic light produce a chemical reaction in the mitochondria of your cells that boosts energy production and regeneration.
We all need light to survive, perform and truly live well. Similar to how our bodies break down food into different nutrients, we metabolise wavelengths of light in the same way. Some can help the body restore our body's ability to function the way it's supposed to, reestablishing healthy cellular function. Increased muscle recovery, improved athletic performance, reduced pain and inflammation, even repairing and healing damaged skin by boosting collagen production.
